Bell Bank’s Pay It Forward foundation is a unique initiative that empowers the company’s team members to give back to communities in need.
Every year, Bell Bank allocates $1,000 to each full-time employee and $500 to each part-time employee to donate to the individuals, families, or organizations of their choice. Since 2008, they have given over $17 million in donations and impacted thousands of lives across the globe. In 2020, Bell Bank doubled each employee’s Pay It Forward dollars to make a greater difference during the pandemic. Some of the team’s favorite causes to support include arts and culture, animals in need, medical and care facilities, and people who are recovering from obstacles like cancer, accidents, domestic violence, and more.

In this episode…
One day can change everything. This was the case for Hunter Pinke, who became paralyzed after a skiing collision in Colorado. But despite many factors being out of his control, Hunter explains that he did have a choice to make as he recovered: to be positive or to be negative.
Hunter has always been a giver of energy rather than a taker of energy. And, with this positive mindset, perseverance, and support from the people around him, Hunter spent the months following his accident moving forward. As he says, there may have been tough times, but there were no bad days. This joy and positivity kickstarted a movement around Hunter — and inspired the team at Bell Bank to pool their Pay It Forward funds to help him keep transforming his life. Now, Hunter is eager to keep this cycle of generosity going.
For 2020’s Pay It Forward initiative, several Bell Bank employees teamed up to help Hunter Pinke after an unexpected accident changed his life. Check out this video to discover the positive mindset that motivated Hunter as he recovered, the swell of support that emerged after the collision, and the ways the Pay It Forward funds have inspired Hunter to keep giving.
