[EO San Francisco] Building a Resilient Advisory Practice in Uncertain Times With Will Richardson

John Corcoran: 18:31

And then the external one. That’s the podcast.

Will Richardson: 18:34

Right? The 10x is that’s the one people can go listen to. I interviewed Chris Voss, who wrote Never Split the Difference a couple of years ago. That was an interesting conversation. And there’s a handful of others that are publicly available so people can check it out if they’d like to.

John Corcoran: 18:49

I want to ask you also about I think we’re running a little short on time, but I know you’re a big fan of travel. How have you managed to work travel into your busy schedule?

Will Richardson: 19:02

Yeah, I think the biggest thing is I’ve learned that certain time zones are easier than others. And to compress a lot of the trips are quick. And one of the things I do is when I’m when I’m in town, I, I compress and get as much done as possible so that I’m not needing to jump on a call at 2 a.m. and Europe, for example. Yeah. So that’s that’s what I’ve, I’ve found it’s, it’s more effective to not try to have a day full of meetings when you’re ten hours later than your home time zone.

John Corcoran: 19:34

Yeah, yeah. And have you like, do you hire for that. Do you like how do you manage your team to kind of set expectations when you’re going to be away for a couple of days?

Will Richardson: 19:46

Yeah. So exactly. So we’ll we’ll have client meetings scheduled, you know, accordingly. And also. Yeah, I’m available as needed because sometimes things happen that are unexpected.

But yeah the team the team steps in and we make sure that if I’m away for a few days, they’re in town. And if if someone else is traveling, we make sure we can we can cover everything.

John Corcoran: 20:06

Certainly seems like, given the last few years, that unexpectedness is something that we can expect to happen to all of us over the last few years. Yeah, yeah, well, well, this has been great. Where can people go to learn more about you, connect with you, and shoot you a question if they have any questions?

Will Richardson: 20:23

I’m on LinkedIn is probably the easiest place to find me.

John Corcoran: 20:27

Okay, great. Well, thanks so much for your time.

Will Richardson: 20:30

Thanks for having me, John.
